How to Make Half Circle Christmas Trees

Have you finished your Christmas decorating yet? I’m not 100% done, but I’m getting close …. maybe if I would quit taking these craft breaks, I could get it done!!   But it’s so much fun, I can’t help myself!

I’ve got a fun craft to share with you today.  Have you seen paper or fabric Christmas trees made out of half circles?  They’re so easy to make, but are really cute!  You can use them to decorate plain gift tags:

String a row of them together to make a garland …. or two or three:

Add some glitter on the edges to make beautiful ornaments:

To make the half circle trees you’ll need double sided paper … scrapbooking paper, sheet music, book pages, even fabric all work great.  A year ago I purchased a book of 12 x 12 patterned double sided scrapbooking paper at Ross.  I’ve also seen the exact same book at Tuesday Morning.  Although, while I like the colorful patterns, I have to say the sheet music trees are my favorite.

Determine how big you want your trees to be.  I knew I wanted my trees to fit on some plain gift tags I had purchased at Michael’s and Target.   By tracing the top of a flower pot which was 5 inches across, I was able to get four full circles, yielding me 8 trees per 12×12 page.

Cut out your circles and then cut them in half.  (You can measure to find the center, if that’s your thing, but I just eyeballed it!)  I’ve created a step by step tutorial with pictures for you.   I hope you can follow it.   If not, there’s probably something on YouTube! 😀

Or anything else you can come up with!  So what do you think?  Will you be attempting to make some half circle Christmas Trees?  I hope you do! This is definitely a craft you and the kiddos can do together.  Heck — their little fingers will probably find it a whole lot easier than my Flintstone ones!  Put on some Christmas music, make a little hot chocolate, and put those little elves to work, I say!!  😉
