Garage Sale Dresser gets a Navy Makeover

Apologies that I don’t have a “before” shot of this garage sale dresser.¬†You can take my word for it, it was brown and boring, and the wood grain was not pretty. I loved the hardware though. I went back and forth on whether to spray them brass or oil rubbed bronze…..guess I’ll do brass on the next one ūüėČ

Clockworkinteriors.com - favorite Hepplewhite hardware.

I was going for a sleeker, more Pottery Barn Kids’ look, so I actually painted it with a semi-gloss finish. The color is SW Indigo Batik, which in my opinion, is a practically perfect navy. ūüėÄ

My family thinks it’s weird that I like to name my furniture pieces. It’s not like I talk to them or anything!¬†Cross my heart!¬†Regardless, I’m giving into peer pressure, and I have promised to stop¬†giving them names.¬†But, if I had to pick a name for this handsome fellow, it would¬†have to be NATHANIEL!¬†(Sorry, Gremlins, I just couldn’t resist!) ¬†ūüėÄ

Nathaniel This navy dresser also has a matching bookcase and both have found a new home with a lovely little family. That makes me very happy indeed!

  1. I have a dresser and am back and forth about what I want to do. I get scared to try colors other than brown or white or black (how boring, I know!). I love this blue!

    • I’ve definitely had some misses, but navy is actually a lot more neutral than you’d think! And that’s the beauty of paint…if you decide you don’t like it, you can just repaint it. Good luck on what you decide!

  2. What a beautiful color – and I love those handles too – I paint furniture so I KNOW what it must have looked like first……………beautiful makeover !
